being a full-time blogger/influencer/cool kid/whatever is the dream for a lot of twenty-somethings nowadays (me included), but for those of us who still need a "real job" to pay our real bills, you may as well love what you do, right? thankfully, I can check that box.

social media executive, ASOS US

I serve as the social media executive for ASOS's US office, managing the curation, creation and scheduling of content for our various channels. from photographing bespoke content for our US customers to analyzing performance and insights to promote further growth, the role is a dynamic one that keeps me on my toes and has helped me develop as both a creative and a strategic thinker.

the most exciting part of this role thus far has been owning our US menswear instagram. I've had the opportunity to develop this channel from its inception, conceptualizing and realizing everything from the aesthetic of the account to setting our KPIs and goals. I also lead the strategic growth initiatives for this platform, ranging from organic practices to push engagement to our influencer collaborations.

outside of the office, I have the privilege of serving as one of our social brand ambassadors. the ASOS Insider program consists of a special group of influencers who eat, sleep and breathe (and, of course, dress) the ASOS way. in this role, I connect with our customers in a more direct way, posting my looks, life and inspiration on my personalized ASOS instagram account.

prior to ASOS, I was a member of the social team at america's favorite retailer, Macy's. working on the menswear, women's accessories and home families of business, I created copy for the company's various channels, the blog, fashion office seasonal publications, and national print and digital campaigns, including black friday, cyber monday and holiday. and, from working the thanksgiving day parade to covering in-store events, the photography side of my job added a little something extra to my day-to-day routine in the office. one of the best parts was the team structure. I was able to work directly with my creative directors (of all levels), sharpening my ability to not only think of creative ideas, but also learning to manage them like a boss.

my first job out of college was also at Macy's on the digital buying team for fragrances and men's grooming products. I'm so grateful for this role because it not  only taught me some major fundamental lessons about surviving in the corporate world, but it also gave me an amazing inside look at the logistics and management of a major retailer. these important gems of knowledge have helped me out in every role since, and even in my personal endeavors as an influencer. hello, when you know how a retailer works, you know what a retailer wants.
